Last Tuesday at 9pm, James said, “Fishing looks good in Chitina.” By 10:30p, he was on the road for the 6.5-hr drive to the Copper River. He went out on the morning’s charter, got dropped off on a rock with his huge net and newest fishing buddy, and by 3:00p, they had pulled in 110 sockeye salmon, 85 bound for our freezer. Thankful for the Lord’s abundant provision and the cheerful, able help put in by the whole family to put up this year’s harvest.

Good eats on the grill tonight!
Bountiful basil has become many half-pints of pesto in the freezer – our favorite sauce for salmon pizza!
Wildflower mix planted outside our back door/window. Rachel has kept the table graced with cuttings from it.
“Our” flock of “chickens”: our resident grouse have a fine family this year that we enjoy seeing collecting gravel from the driveway (YES – the driveway is now graveled!!), hear them chuckling to each other as they go through the flower and vegetable gardens or roost in the evening. (Local wildlife are NOT part of our harvest! 🙂
Last but not least, we celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary in August.

Good to hear from you again and see the pictures. The salmon looks great and it’s healthy too. 85# of fish should last all winter I would think. That knife in the 5th picture is huge. Good to know that you are doing well there and able to fly the airplane to various places.
Three churches in town are sponsoring a skate board event this week end. We are looking for several hundred people to attend. There will be 4 professional skaters who will skate and also share their testimony and the gospel while they are here for 2 days.

That’s 85 fish – at 3-4# of fillets each. Keeps our family of 7 hearty eaters going as well as being able to share – we are thankful!
