The question comes up occasionally, and at the beginning of this National Bible Bee season it seems to have been raised more than usual, “Why are there so many translations of the Bible?” Along with that comes, “Which is the best translation?” I hope to answer these questions, probably more rudimentarily than is adequate, but […]
Critters emerging from everywhere this morning: ermine in our spruce piles, two squirrels playing chase through the trees, two snowshoe rabbits lippity-lippity-ing between the ermine and the squirrels, and evidence that our hay pile has been re-visited by our local moose (meese?). All the play made for a great 15-minute show to start our day.
Our family has been reading through the book of Joshua, and everybody probably knows the famous, “choose this day whom you will serve” comment. When you think about the land they were going into, it was a very real decision that had to be made…which idol will you serve? Think about the options: you could […]

If you have read any of our prayer letters through the last 8-9 months, you know that we have traveled many times to Palmer, to InterAct’s Lazy Mountain campus, to assist with AFJ (Alaska Freedom Journey) training modules. James attends and assists in the classes, and our whole family has been blessed to become acquainted […]
It’s been a while since we’ve posted, and now we have a backlog that needs to be put into our timeline here! Summer being upon us, there is a lot more to tell about what’s happening on our homestead and ministry-wise, but we’re so busy doing that, well, the telling is going to be hard […]
<ding> I smiled as I read Gloria’s response to my Facebook message, asking to tell about her book in our prayer letter: “Absolutely you can. Anything towards helping others and giving God the glory =priority.” So characteristic. Reading Gloria’s An Alaskan Woman’s Journey, you feel she’s sitting across from you, telling you the everyday things […]
